Southwood Valley Elementary is a Title One school. Being a Title I school means receiving federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the school’s existing programs. These dollars are used to…
- Identify students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely assistance to help students meet the State’s challenging content standards.
- Purchase supplemental staff/programs/materials/supplies.
- Conduct parent and family engagement meetings, trainings, and activities.
Southwood Valley Title 1 Mission
Southwood Valley is committed to our mission: We see the potential in every student and staff member through building relationships with the school community. We will provide a safe and positive, student-centered, learning environment full of love and authentic, culturally relevant experiences. We strive to provide high-quality education individualized for each student by developing and maintaining relationships with families and the community.
One way we continue to do this is by participating in the Title I, Part A State Program. This program provides funding for low socioeconomic schools. In return, we promise to meet the expectations laid out for us by the Texas Education Agency and the United States Department of Education as described in Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Section 1116.
